Managing modern-day lifestyles has emerged as increasingly complex. Between painting schedules, youngsters’ school sports, health practitioner’s appointments, sports activities practice, social activities, and personal commitments, many households struggle to live on top of the entirety. Traditional paper calendars, sticky notes on the fridge, and text message reminders can most effective achieve this a whole lot. That’s where skylight calendar steps in—a virtual, clever family calendar designed to streamline household organization.

This article offers a detailed look at what Skylight Calendar is, how it works, its functions, advantages, drawbacks, and why it has become such a popular choice for families and busy professionals.

What is skylight calendar?

The Skylight Calendar is a Wi-Fi-enabled smart display made for both families and businesses. It works smoothly with popular apps like Google Calendar, Outlook, Apple Calendar, and Cozi, showing events in a clear and easy-to-read way.

Unlike regular calendar apps that stay on your phone, Skylight puts the schedule in a shared space like the kitchen or living room. As a result, everyone in the family is always informed about what’s happening. In addition, the same company also makes digital photo frames, but the calendar goes much further. Not only does it show pictures, but it also combines calendars, makes to-do lists, and even helps with meal planning.

Moreover, the Skylight Calendar comes in 15-inch and 27-inch Max versions, and you can easily mount it on the wall, either vertically or horizontally. It looks like a mix between a tablet and a photo frame.

Navigation is also simple. On the left side, you’ll see tabs for the calendar, to-do lists, and photo gallery. On the top left, you can switch between views and set your favorite as the default screen.

You can even set a Sleep Mode from the menu. For example, you can schedule it to turn off at night and wake up in the morning. With quick response time and no lag, just a light tap is enough to bring the display back to life.

Advantages of using a skylight calendar

  • Effortless digital syncing: We love how it syncs with our digital calendars, ensuring everything is up to date and current, regardless of where we add events.
  • Engaging and straightforward to use: the calendar’s touchscreen makes it easy to navigate, and we appreciate that it’s not hard to go ahead or back a week if necessary.
  • Personalization: We can customize the colors, styles, and themes to create a look that suits us, and the calendar is highly configurable overall.
  • Updates in real time: The calendar has never actually been sluggish to update. We can automate the process of updating Dustin’s calendar if we make an appointment while we’re out.  The same holds for appointment times; the calendar will update itself whenever we make a change.
  • Weather feature: In case you need to adjust your plans because of the weather, it will display the local forecast in addition to the weather at the site of your upcoming events for the duration of your stay.
  • Minimalist style: We were concerned that the 27-inch screen would be too big, yet it fits perfectly. It’s not too big so that it won’t take up too much room on the wall, yet it’s big enough to be legible and easy to browse.  Ours is in a corridor, so it’s hard to tell them apart.

Features of the skylight calendar

marking routine in skylight calendar Skylight Calendar is more than just a calendar display. It is a family management device with multiple proper equipment.

1. Best Feature – The Calendar Option

First of all, the most useful feature of the Skylight Calendar is, of course, its calendar function. Moreover, integrating it with your Google, iCal, Outlook, Cozi, or Yahoo calendar is extremely easy. In addition, you can also import multiple color-coded calendars from different accounts. This way, it becomes simple to separate and manage every family member’s schedule. While you can add events directly to Skylight, most people usually prefer syncing from their existing calendars because it is faster and more convenient.

2. Doubles as a Digital Photo Frame

Next, Skylight Calendar is not only a calendar—it also works as a digital picture frame. Unlike regular frames such as Aura or Pexar, Skylight combines photo sharing with scheduling features. Furthermore, if you subscribe to the Pro plan, you can keep using it as a complete digital photo frame. In fact, your family and friends can send photos to your Skylight either through the app or by email. After that, the administrator can decide which images to display. Finally, the Skylight will automatically scroll through the selected photos, adding a personal and warm touch to your calendar display.

3. Easy Photo Sharing

Actually, the Skylight Calendar is not meant to be advanced photo software. However, sharing photos through email makes it easy, especially for elderly family members who may not want to download another app. Therefore, it becomes a simple way for everyone to stay connected and share memories without hassle.

4. Personalize Your Listings

In addition, Skylight allows you to create personalized lists for different needs. For example, you can make unlimited shopping lists, task lists, or to-do lists. However, there are a few limitations: you cannot create subtasks, rearrange items, set due dates, or assign a task to a specific user. Even so, these simple lists are still invaluable for everyday family organization. On the other hand, if you want more advanced options, you can rely on the “Chores” feature.

5. Chores – Assignable and Reusable

Lastly, the Chores feature is a great way to manage family responsibilities. With this option, you can assign tasks to any family member, set due dates, and even make them repeat automatically. Additionally, you can assign a reward value to each chore, making it more enjoyable for kids. After completing the tasks, family members can redeem rewards, or you can easily reassign or delete chores. Therefore, this function turns everyday family duties into a more organized and engaging system.

The Skylight Calendar: A Guide to Making Meal Plans

Women with skylight calendar If you subscribe to Skylight’s Pro Plan, the meal planning tool may tailor its recommendations to your tastes.  You have the option to add your personal recipes, share images of your favorite dishes via Sidekick, or save recipes from Skylight to your recipe box.  Adding the scheduled meals to your grocery list is also a breeze.  We can see this being useful for families, but as a solo user, I really enjoy it.  While there are undoubtedly better meal planning applications out there, having this capability in a thorough organized tool like Skylight is a pleasant feature.

What is the price of a Skylight Calendar?

Prices for skylight calendar can be found at different stores and on various models.  Check the Skylight online store or your preferred local merchant for the latest offerings; pricing may also be affected by seasonal specials and other sales. Whether you choose to shop in-store or online, you can get Skylight Calendar for purchase through our retail partners or directly from Skylight.

Does skylight calendar require a subscription

For access to additional features in Skylight Calendar, consider signing up for the premium Skylight Plus subscription.  Pay $79/year for access to Skylight Plus. The 15-inch Skylight Calendar is available for $319.99, while the massive 27-inch Max Calendar, which is now on backorder, costs $599. A subscription called the Pro Plan is available from Skylight for $39 per year. Using photographs, the import tool, and meal planning are all capabilities that are exclusive to the Pro Plan. However, it is not necessary.

Disadvantages of the skylight calendar

image of skylight calendar While compiling the list of disadvantages, bear in mind that the benefits far outweigh any drawbacks we could identify.  We wanted to be forthright about a few things that we have done that could be seen as drawbacks.

  • Needs to be connected to a power source: This calendar, in contrast to paper ones, requires regular charging or plugging in. To ensure that it could be permanently attached, we built an additional box behind the calendar.  Consider getting a smaller one that fits on the counter if you’re concerned about this.
  • Possible technical difficulties: We have had ours for a little under six months and haven’t encountered any issues like that, but our Wi-Fi or syncing settings could be the cause.

Conclusion

Many households likely already use several types of apps to organize their schedules, track tasks, or plan meals. The skylight calendar can be first-rate if you’re ready to spend $300 on a family hub.  Additionally, we consider it exceptional on a character level: for a person with ADHD, it is invaluable.  The Hearth Display is a notable example of a costly family control device. However, we’re unsure if those options offer twice the value for over $600.
